The rector of the Nong Lam University (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) Dr. Trinh Truong Giang and the vice-rector Nguyen Le Hung were informed about the ForeStClim project vividly by visiting the research plot “Merzalben” with all its measuring techniques.
Inspired by the great view over the Palatinate Forest from the nearby look-out “Luitpoldturm” the future prospects and adaption strategies for the European and Asian forests in response to climate change were discussed and views exchanged.

The background for the visit of the Vietnamese delegation in Trippstadt was the renewal of a cooperation agreement between the Nong Lam University and Landesforsten Rheinland-Pfalz. Since 1999 scientists from the Research Institute for Forest Ecology and Forestry of Rhineland-Palatinate (FAWF) work as guest lecturers to transfer knowledge and experiences about sustainable forest management as well as basic topics like silviculture, soil science, biodiversity and forest genetics. In future, the aspects and impacts of climate change will be another main topic of this international cooperation. For this purpose, Prof. Dr. Gebhard Schüler, responsible for International Projects and Networking at the FAWF and project manager of ForeStClim, highlighted the experiences and assessment tools gained and offered by ForeStClim.
