Team Leader Meeting in Edinburgh

The ForeStClim project steering committee met on 05/06 March 2009 on the premises of the Forestry Commission UK Northern Research Station, Roslin, UK. 14 attendees from all partner countries helped to make it a lifely and successful meeting.

Besides discussing past and future activities, major topics of Day 1 have been the JTS's (Joint Technical Secretariat, Lille) feedback on the 1st payment claim, as well as handling the procedures of payment claim and progress reporting.

To increase the communcality within the project, it has been decided that "task forces" across partners and teams will be established to look into subjects of particular research interest, e.g. the Douglas fir in NW Europe or the comparison of national forest management adaptation strategies.

For project partners, the detailed meeting minutes are available for download in the internal area (file manager -> ForeStClim -> Meetings -> Steering committee).

Day 2 has been devoted to a visit to the Craik Forest Experimental site. Ray Duncan and his Forestry Commission UK colleagues took the opportunity to present their research on afforestation efforts, impact of climate change/forest management on downstream hydrology, and the ForestGALES model to assess wind damage probabilities.

In the name of all attendees we want to thank Dr Tom Nisbet and his colleagues from partner 14 (Forestry Commission UK) for the excellent organisation of the meeting and field trip!

The next meeting will take place in Brittany in early September and will be organised with the help of partner 7 (G.I.P. Pays Redon et Vilaine).
