Invitation for the ForeStClim International Photographic Competition and Exhibition

We cordially invite you to come to our international photographic exhibition "Trees and People in a Changing Climate" on Sunday, 16 September 2012, in the parc of the Castle in Trippstadt (near Kaiserslautern), Germany.

80 photographers from around the world, from Vietnam to America, have participated in this photo contest with more than 500 images. The top 200 photos will be shown publicly on 50 panels in the Castle Park of Trippstadt until the end of October, after that, the photos will be exhibited at Risley Moss Nature Reserve, United Kingdom, and later in La Gacilly, France

This exhibition is a height of our European project “ForeStClim” (Transnational forest management strategies in climate change).

The photos illustrate the impacts of climate change on forests and people. Photos from other continents convey the vision of the struggle for survival and the suffering of the trees in drought or in flooded areas.

We are proud that we can welcome the world famous AP (Associated Press) photographer, Mr. Nick Ut as special guest of honor on this day. During the American-Vietnamese War Nick Ut shot the portentous photo with a naked little girl, who was seriously injured escaping a napalm attack. This photo was selected in 1972 as Press Photo of the Year and it accelerated the withdrawal of the USA from the Vietnam War. For this photo Nick Ut received the Pulitzer Prize.

With his coming Nick Ut wants to demonstrate that the issues of environmental and climatic change are global challenges which have to been managed.

We look forward to your visit.
